Overview
Yardstick Dog Hotel is a boutique dog boarding and care facility located on Charlotte Pike between “The Nations” and “Sylvan Park” neighborhoods in West Nashville. While the founding date isn’t explicitly stated on the website, its modern facility design and branded service approach position it as one of the city’s newer-generation pet service businesses.
The business offers three main service lines: overnight boarding through a stress-reducing, suites-only accommodation model; daytime care with small-group play areas and a high staff-to-dog ratio; and on-site bathing and grooming services. The company’s most distinctive feature is its cage-free, suites-only boarding model — designed to give dogs a less stressful stay compared to a traditional kennel environment. Round-the-clock staff supervision and a partnership with local 24-hour animal hospitals provide reassurance around emergency preparedness.
Daily photo updates for clients let owners remotely track their dog’s status — a particularly comforting feature for owners traveling for business or vacation. Positioned around the philosophy “Happy dogs = Happy parents,” Yardstick aims to offer personalized care with limited capacity, promising a calmer, more controlled environment than large-scale kennel chains. Its location in one of West Nashville’s rapidly growing, younger-family neighborhoods aligns well with this boutique approach’s target audience.
